Parent Child Dedication

In the Bible, Jesus did not prevent the children from coming to him. In fact, there is an instance in the book of Mark where the disciples were actually preventing the children from coming to Jesus. Jesus was the one that said, “No, let the little children come to me.” He then began to bless them and lay hands on them. There was another time that Jesus was teaching and told the crowd that they actually have to become like little children to get into the kingdom of heaven.

Dedications of children happened numerous times in scripture, where they would bring the children to the temple to be dedicated. In fact, even Jesus himself was dedicated in the temple according to Jewish law. We want to follow the example that Scripture gives us to dedicate our children to the Lord. A promise to our children that we will raise them to know and love God and to one day make their own choice to become a Jesus Follower.
