Communications Director

Congregation: Hope Church Las Vegas

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:
The Communications Director at Hope Church is primarily responsible for strategic alignment, leadership and development, and execution of all aspects of Communications.

This role requires proven expertise in communicating effectively to internal and external audiences across multiple communications channels, and experience leading communications in a multi-cultural and multi-generational environment. This individual must be personally invested in what God is doing through Hope Church and be able to communicate this in an empathetic and compelling way.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Develop a communication plan that aligns all communications with Hope’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Lead all efforts, in partnership with church and ministry leaders, related to the creation and execution of the communication plan that engages the Hope community across all channels.
  • Oversee content creation for all communication and ensure alignment with the communication plan.
  • Work closely with the Hope Creative Pastor and team to create consistency and strategic alignment in messaging.
  • Create a project plan and workflow that manages communication requests, content requests, and branding requests in a manner that prioritizes timeliness and budget compliance.

Print & Digital Communication

  • Develop systems to organize, prioritize and communicate promotions.
  • Oversee the design/creation of all print and digital materials, ensuring they are executed with excellence.
  • Consistently update and monitor the church’s website and App.
  • Ensure all communications are consistent with Hope’s Brand Guide and update branding and style guidelines when appropriate.

Social Media

  • Develop and periodically update Hope’s social media plan, ensuring alignment with Hope’s strategic priorities.
  • Take primary quality control responsibility for the content and look of all social media platforms.
  • Consistently update and monitor Hope’s social media accounts.

Design & Brand Management

  • Lead efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence, and effectiveness.
  • Oversee creation of all original sermon series media content and ministry branding.
  • Manage the Hope Church brand to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Monitor the look, vibe and feel of all promotional materials.
  • Proactively support ministry teams in aligning team messaging with the overall communications plan.
  • Assist ministry teams with the development of themes, design aesthetic and messaging for ministry events.

Team Development

  • Lead, develop and manage Communications staff to live Hope’s Staff Family Values while accomplishing Communication goals.
  • Recruit, develop and manage volunteers to support the communication plan. This includes, but is not limited to, photographers, graphic designers, and web developers.

Media Relations

  • Develop policy and procedures, in consultation with the Lead Team of Pastors, related to media relations.

Budget and Vendor Management

  • Team budget development and management
  • Management of all communication/print vendors and contractors.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Personally invested in what God is doing through Hope Church and be able to communicate this in an empathetic and compelling way.
  • Excellent communicator, able to listen well, ask questions with insight, and generate new ideas without the prompting of leadership.
  • Proven expertise in understanding how to speak effectively to internal and external audiences, cross culturally and cross generationally across multiple communication channels.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and update brand and style guidelines.
  • Proven ability to standardize messaging across multiple platforms.
  • Experience managing, monitoring, and updating websites and/or social media accounts.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a Communications Team in close cooperation with the creative team.
  • Experience planning and overseeing a team budget.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent relational and oral communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of video editing tools for customizing content for Social Media platforms.
  • Administrative skills and technology proficiencies required. Innovative and open to new technology and communication channels.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations/Marketing, Creative Arts, or relevant practical experience required.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years in similar role.
  • Church staff participation and/or leading or developing communications technology preferred.
