"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

When you acknowledge someone, you are recognizing the rights and authority that person has and that you accept the truth of the existence of that person with those rights and authority.  Often, we partially acknowledge someone in this regard.  For example, when the mother of James and John asked Jesus if her sons could sit in places of honor next to Him (Matthew 20:22), she first knelt before Jesus (Matthew 20:21), acknowledging she understood she should worship Him but not that she should trust Him.  In the same way, many of us trust and acknowledge that Jesus can save us but not order our everyday lives.  We acknowledge Jesus as Savior, but deny Him as LORD.  These verses in Proverbs instruct us to not attempt to understand but to simply trust and acknowledge the rights and authority of Jesus in all our ways in our behavior, our thoughts, our words and, most of all, in our hearts.

In what ways do you struggle acknowledging God?  In what ways do you know you acknowledge Him wholeheartedly?  Write these down and thank God for the ways you already acknowledge Him; then ask Him to strengthen you in acknowledging Him in those areas you are weak.
