“Do not be grieved for the joy of the Lord is your strength…” – Nehemiah 8:10
Nehemiah had every reason to be grieved. To grieve means to have an emotional, physical, behavioral and even social response to a loss. He was battled by every force when reconstructing the wall in Jerusalem. He had been chosen by God to rebuild the walls of the city, but every step he took he was discouraged. Yet, God told him that his grief should be replaced with joy because joy would be his strength. Where is this strength found? Strength is found in the joy of knowing our Heavenly Father. No matter what troubles or trials come your way, allow the joy of the Lord to be your strength. Thank Him for His enduring and steadfast love for you right now.
Is there any situation in your life that you are not resting in the joy of the Lord?
