“and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul.” Mark 12:30
Your soul is your mind, will, and emotion. In other words, what you think, what you want, and what you feel. When you give your life to Jesus, you move from living from your soul as a natural human being to a supernatural and spiritual child. You can no longer return successfully to your old, natural ways of thinking. As you walk with the Lord spending time studying His Word and obeying what you hear, you will start becoming more and more like Him. It’s a powerful thing to know that as you love and obey God, you begin to look more like Him. His thoughts become your thoughts. What He wants becomes what you want. What He feels actually becomes what you feel towards people and situations. Submitting your soul to God is a powerful and transforming action of love.
Take a moment this morning and ask, “Is there an area in my thoughts that is not pleasing to God? Are my feelings the feelings of God or myself? Do I want what God wants?” As you conclude your God time today, physically take your palms and face them down and say, “God, I give you everything. This is your life and not mine. I want you to have everything.”
