“If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” – 1 Peter 4:14
In a non-biblical worldview, opposition is unwelcomed. And if it’s experienced, it means that someone did something to deserve it. However, in a biblical worldview, followers of Jesus are to embrace opposition as a means to experience greater fellowship and communion with God. In contrast too, God doesn’t punish His followers by sending some opposition their way. He sometimes allows opposition into their lives to deepen His relationship with them. And here’s what comforting: when opposition does come into the life of a Jesus follower, there comes with it a unique manifestation of the Spirit of God that provides comfort and assurance despite the opposition.
Thinking over the past seasons of your life, how has God comforted you in the midst of opposition?
