On April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. He was assassinated for his leadership role in the Civil Rights movement that had already begun to forever change the United States.

The message of Martin Luther King was a message rooted in God’s Word, and, as such, he was used mightily by God. Although we may look different from one another, speak different languages, and even be from different parts of the world, God tell us that we are all the bearers of His image and always have been. Even the Gospel itself contradicted deeply held beliefs in the Jewish world at the time that it arrived. Before the arrival of the Gospel, Jewish traditions held that God restricted his goodness to a very specific chosen people. With Jesus, however, came the good news of great joy for ALL people. That good newsthe sin-destroying, life-giving, transforming gospel of Jesus Christ is still for all people everywhere!

Is your view of the gospel’s reach limited to a particular kind of people? Do you seek to share the good news with ‘all’ the people?
