“And His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd. And it was reported to Him, ‘Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.’ But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” – Luke 8:19-21
You belong to both a physical family and a spiritual family. Unlike your physical family, your spiritual family is eternal. You belong to the family of God! The moment you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, you were adopted and given a new identity in Him as a child of God. Jesus says that those who “hear the word of God and do it” are His family. Honoring our earthly family is good and right, but connecting with our spiritual family is of great importance in our lives too. We will honor the Father by being in fellowship with His family.
