“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” – Romans 12:21
It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that evil is present in this world. And this reality is congruent with many different worldviews including Christianity. Yet, a biblical worldview calls us, the church, to respond to evil in a very counter-cultural kind of way. Paul, writing to the Romans, calls the church to respond to the reality of evil by conquering evil, not with more evil, but with good. It’s this good that actually defeats evil! Therefore, our response to the evil in the world today is not “eye for an eye,” but love displayed through doing good, especially toward those who we disagree with theologically.
How can you “do good” toward someone this week who may not agree with you?
