“So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.” – Acts 5:41
In the world’s system, suffering is often thought of as a result of a wrong decision. People often think that suffering comes from doing something wrong. That is not a biblical worldview. Sometimes suffering is a result of doing something right like in the case of the apostles is Acts chapter five. How could they view suffering as something to rejoice in? Well, they remembered that Jesus said: “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad” (Matthew 5:11-12). When the way you live your life brings opposition and spiritual suffering, let Jesus’ own words comfort you. And remember people have always treated Jesus the same way. He just now lives in you.
As you share in His mission, are you surprised when you experience opposition?
