“But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.'” – Jeremiah 7:23
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It is to shape everything we do and discourage us away from what not to do. For example, when God says, “do” something, He’s saying “help yourself.” When He says not to do something, He’s saying, “don’t hurt yourself.” In this passage, God reveals that when we hear and obey His voice, when He is in control of our lives, when we live as His children, walking in complete surrender to His will for our lives, life is simply better. But the opposite is also true. If we live outside of God’s Word, out from underneath the umbrella of the protection it provides, we are susceptible to danger and exposed to the elements.
