“Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.” – Philippians 4:17
When one gives a gift to another person, more often than not, it is usually the one giving the gift that receives the greater blessing. Interestingly, Jesus Himself said the very same thing (Acts 20:35). This reality rooted itself deeply in the Apostle Paul’s heart as well. He wanted the church to know that he was thankful for their financial investment into God’s activity. Yet, he also knew that their giving would pay rich spiritual dividends. When we give with the right heart, He gives us joy, peace, and many other spiritual blessings. That’s what Paul wanted the Philippians to know, and that’s what God wants for you as well: the blessing of giving.
