“What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.” – 1 John 1:3
At the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, He charged the disciples to preach the Gospel and make disciples. The same is still true today. As Jesus followers, we are to take “what we have seen and heard” and proclaim it to others. But to what end? “So that you too may have fellowship with us”, which leads to fellowship with “the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.” Within community, we are challenged to more faithfully follow Jesus. But community also serves another purpose. Through community, the mission is accomplished. In other words, you cannot faithfully follow Jesus or accomplish His mission without being in community with other believers.
Are you in community? If so, how are you living out the principle of life on mission through community?
