“and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart.” – Mark 12:30
There was a book many years ago called My Heart, Christ’s Home in which the author described the heart of a person as rooms in a very large house owned by Jesus Christ. This verse speaks of a love for God where every part of the heart is given over to God; all the rooms are owned by Him. Jesus isn’t a guest. Jesus owns the place. Jesus followers love Jesus so much that they trust Him to have the ownership, and Jesus is free to move throughout every room. A Jesus follower has no rights to the rooms. The entertainment room is for Jesus, not just you. You glorify God in what you watch and scroll through. The family room is not off limits to God. Your family is no longer yours, but God’s. He can raise children better than you can if you’ll let Him. You can go through all the rooms of your heart and ask, “Is God free to do whatever He wants with this room?” Your loving Heavenly Father will begin to show you how much He can be trusted as you walk by faith and obey what He says. Giving your heart to Jesus is more than a prayer. Love Jesus with all your heart, and you will find that Jesus will move in your life and fill your rooms with grace, love, and hope.
