“And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach” – Mark 3:13-14
Usually, when you and I want to teach someone a new skill or trait, we invite him or her to be with us in order to show them how to grow in their ability to accomplish the task. This kind of coaching is necessary for future impact. Jesus did this with His disciples. He desired that they be with Him, to follow and journey with Him, so that He could show them how to navigate through life. You see Christianity is a call to someone, not to something. It is not focused on a program. It is focused on a Person. In other words, the Christian life is all about intimacy with Jesusbeing with Him every moment of every day as we walk through life.
Can your Christian life be described as one that is focused on moment-by-moment dependence on Jesus?
