“For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function,so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” – Romans 12:1-5
F.F. Bruce said, “Diversity, not uniformity, is the mark of God’s handiwork. It is so in nature and nowhere more so than in the Christian community.” Think about the different parts of your physical body for a moment. How incredibly different are your lungs, eyes, and fingers? The differences between them are not based on importance but on function. The reality is that we need all the members of our bodies to live. The same is true of Jesus’ body, the local church. We have different gifts and roles, but we’re all a valuable and essential part of God’s plan. We need all of the members to function as a healthy, local fellowship.
What members of the body of Christ do you often overlook but need to stop and thank Him for today?
