"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." - James 1:5-8

We’ve all heard the expression, “Like a child on Christmas morning.” There’s nothing quite as cute as a young child on Christmas morning as they wake up (usually much earlier than normal) with excitement and expectation for what is to come. They are rarely deterred by doubt. This is why Jesus encouraged His disciples, “Truly I say to you, unless you become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). There is an innocence to their fear of doubt that we can learn a lot from. As we approach our good Father with our desires and requests, we must do so with excitement and expectation! He desires good things for His children! So let us “wake up” to this reality like children on Christmas and be expectant for what God might do!

When you approach God, do you do so knowing that you come to the Ruler of the universe who has promised you great and glorious things?
