“For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” – Colossians 1:9
Prayer is the divine telephone of communication. It lines us up to Christ and helps us to be sensitive to the needs of others. Sometimes it can be hard to know how to pray for missionaries or people that don’t know God at all, but it is never wrong to pray that they “be filled with the knowledge of His will.” Paul had never met the Colossians, but they had shown by their faith and love that they were disposed to do His will. So Paul prays that they will (1) understand God’s will and (2) gain spiritual wisdom and understanding. As we pray for others in this same way, God will give them a complete understanding of His will in their lives. All we have to do is ask Him.
Today begin praying Colossians 1:9 for (1) fellow believers, (2) those we know who do not know Jesus, and (3) missionaries and the unreached people groups all over the world.
