“…bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” Colossians 3:13
Clyde Cranford wrote, “In Christ, the thing that we least deserve is that which we have been most freely given: forgiveness. How then do we dare not forgive those who have wronged us?”1
First, believers have been forgiven completely and eternally. There is nothing that would ever cause God not to forgive one of His children. Secondly, forgiveness that has been gratefully received should be graciously given. Though the pain is real, being forgiven leads a believer to extend that same forgiveness to others.
Have you withheld forgiveness from someone for any reason? Ask God to help you release that reason, and to give forgiveness to that person as Christ has freely given it to you.
