“And He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him. And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach” – Mark 3:13-14
A popular English idiom is, “We put the cart before the horse.” It communicates that something was done out of order. On the contrary, our God is a God of order. Everything He does is planned, thought out, with a design and purpose. In the passage above, there is a very important order to things that we must understand. Jesus said that the disciples had one jobto be with Him. He would be the one to send them out. So, “they” were to “be” and “He” was to “send”. Here’s what that means: True ministry is always born out of intimacy with God. Therefore, ministry isn’t the focus of our lives as Jesus followers. Rather, intimacy is the focus. Ministry is what He does out of the overflow of intimacy.
How might God want to use something that you experienced with Him this week in the life of another person?
