And pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
Ephesians 6:18-20
When a crisis hits, oftentimes friends and family come to the rescue and offer whatever they can to help. They will ask, “What can I do to help? Do you need anything?” Have you ever answered, “Pray for me”? Paul was giving instruction on how to suit up for battle. He told the Ephesians to “put on the whole armor of God” (v. 11).
That armor, covering head to toe, consisted of truth to gird your loins, the breastplate of righteousness, preparation of the Gospel for shoes, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, “which is the word of God” (v. 14-17). Most people stop there when talking about the armor and forget the greatest weapon of all: prayer!
Prayer is not only another weapon, but the greatest of all the weapons as it infuses the rest of the armor with the power needed to fight the enemy. It is the one thing Paul asks the Ephesians to do for him: pray!
