"For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding." - Colossians 1:9

Colossians 1:9
“For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” – Colossians 1:9

What does Paul mean when he says he “has not ceased to pray for the Colossians”? Obviously, it cannot mean he was in a head bowed, eyes closed posture all day long. He is also not referring to nonstop talking. For Paul, prayer was a way of life; he was continually in an attitude of prayer. Everything he saw and experienced became a kind of prayer as he lived his life in deep awareness and surrender to God. In this case, the Colossians were the recipients of his unceasing prayers. As followers of Jesus, our aim should be to have this same attitude of prayer throughout our day. As God brings fellow believers to your mind, pray. As God brings lost family and friends to mind, pray. When God brings the nations of the earth to mind, pray! Go on praying. Don’t cease!
