“Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Galatians 6:2 tells us to, “carry one another’s burdens, for it is the law of Christ.” There is a reason for that. God had no intentions for us to do life alone. When God created Adam, He said, “It is not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). One of the main reasons God wants His people to connect to one another is to encourage one another. One of the definitions of the word encourage is to make (someone) more determined, hopeful, or confident. You can watch the news and look around at all that is happening in our world and rightfully ask, “What do I have to be hopeful or confident in?”. The verse right before this one says, “Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when He returns, we can live with him forever” (v. 10, NLT). While acknowledging what is happening around us, we can be strengthened when we remind one another that Christ is coming again!
Can you think of another brother or sister right now who might need to be encouraged and reminded that this world is not our home? If so, take a quick moment to call or send a quick text to build up your brother or sister.
