"And He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, 'Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?'" Luke 8:22-25

“And He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’ They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, ‘Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?'” – Luke 8:22-25

Have you ever arrived to the other side of an intense, traumatic situation you did not think you were going to get through only to look back and hear a whisper, “Where was your faith?”  In verse 23 of this same chapter, Luke writes, “and they were in real danger.”  He wanted to let the readers know that the situation the disciples faced was not just a strong wind blowing by, but that their very lives were possibly at risk.  Have you been in real danger before?  Real danger of losing your home?  Your job?  Your own life?  Your marriage?  One of your children?  Often, we can forget the previous storms Jesus already carried us through and allow the stressors of the current, real danger in front of us to overtake our minds and hearts and cause us to fear and forget that Jesus commands the winds and the storms.  Rather than look for the situation to dissolve or be fixed, look to the One who carries you every step of the way and praise Him anyway, knowing there is a lesson in the midst of it all, and He will hold you up until you get to the other side.

What was the last situation you were in that felt like real danger?  As you think of how you responded, what ways did you show faith?  If you don’t see where you demonstrated faith, imagine how you could have and let that be preparation for the next time.
