Remembering God's Faithfulness

God Time Devotional | March 26, 2024

"As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God, with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival." Psalm 42:1-4

Monuments are structures built to help remember and celebrate significant people, places or events that have impacted history. In this passage, the psalmist is looking at a desperate world, realizing his desperate need for God and hearing the mocking of his culture, but he is not shaken. Why not? Because he is tapping into the spiritual monuments of a good and faithful God in his life. “These things I remember,” he says.

In the life of a Jesus follower, no matter how desperate the times get, what our culture says, or how bleak the situation is, we must recognize our desperate need for Christ and remember the faithfulness of God. We must have confidence in Him because of what He’s done!

When was the last time you took time to think about what God has done for you, and used that fact as a monument to minister to yourself?
