“Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” – James 5:16
What does it mean to “confess” something? To “confess” literally means, “to agree with.” When someone confesses something, they are agreeing with the truth about what that thing actually is. For accountability purposes, confession is also about informing others of what is holding you back, and about what sin is in your life. We need others so that we don’t stay the way we are. Our sinful flesh is only good for the grave, so what others speak into our lives, as they begin to know us, is spiritually healthy. This can’t happen when we refuse to share our struggles with others.
Are you open with others about your current struggles?
