“You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone; for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs.” – Philippians 4:15
At Hope Church, we are often reminded of this truth: when God births a church, it’s always about something bigger. And the Philippians understood this as well. They knew that the church in Philippi was not the goal; the Kingdom of God being expanded all over the earth was the goal. The church was not the finish line, but it was the starting line. So they took advantage of their relationship with the Apostle Paul and gave toward what God was doing in and through him so that the mission of making disciples and multiplying the church could take place. Therefore, supporting the mission happens as we give in and through the local church.
Are you regularly, proportionately, and sacrificially giving toward the accomplishment of God’s mission?
