“but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here.” – John 14:31
The life of Jesus recorded for us in the Gospel accounts gives us a model for what our lives are to look like as we pursue Him. Though infinitely more than a model, Jesus displayed for us what it means to live moment-by-moment in dependence on the Father. Here, Christ reveals that His love for the Father was manifested in the complete surrender of the control of His life to the Father which was most evident in His death on the cross. If that kind of surrender was what characterized Jesus’ life then, and now He lives in you and me by His Spirit, our lives will begin to look like moment-by-moment surrender. And as we surrender to His will, by the power of Christ in us, we are able to say that we “do exactly as the Father commanded me.”
What aspect of your life have you not surrendered over to the control of your Heavenly Father?
