"Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You, I wait all the day." - Psalm 35:5

Psalm 35:5
“Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You, I wait all the day.”             – Psalm 35:5

Children are very dependent people who are constantly testing their independence. The reality is that kids depend on adults for a ton of simple tasks:  eating, bathing, you name it. One of the things kids test their independence on is walking in a parking lot or crossing the street by themselves. Adults understand that it only takes one mistake for a disaster to happen. So at least one or most likely several hundred times a parent will say, “Wait for me!” The parents understand that if the child waits for them then their journey will be much safer and more secure.

In our Psalm today, the psalmist has come to understand what every parent learns about their children. As we walk this journey of a relationship with Jesus, we are dependent on Him for everything. But our flesh wants to test our independence! May God give us grace to learn that we are much safer and more secure as we wait for Him!

Are you waiting and allowing God to lead you, or are you testing your independence?
