“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” – John 14:13-14
The Westminster Shorter Catechism says, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.” That is, the purpose we were created for is ultimately to glorify God with the lives He has given us (Isaiah 43:6-7). But we were also created for a personal relationship with Him. These reasonsto glorify God and to enjoy a relationship with Himwere near to the heart of Jesus as well. Jesus’ sole purpose on the earth was to glorify the Father, which He had accomplished (John 17:4). Today, we read that the Son’s involvement in answering our prayers glorifies God. As Jesus followers, though we are unable to answer prayer, we are still called to glorify God with our lives.
As you think about the life you’ve been given, how are you glorifying God?
