“When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.” – Luke 5:11
What does commitment look like? Professional athletes’ stories are usually similar. They trained, worked out, and practiced so hard even when they were young to become the athletes they are today. They were committed. They gave up things that didn’t matter for those that would make a difference, for the thing they wanted. Following Jesus is not easy. He never said it would be. Here, in Luke 5, Jesus invited the disciples to follow Him as He pursued the mission. They gave up everything to follow Him and be involved in this mission. To give up everything is a common theme in Christianity. Jesus did that for us. Our response should also be a willingness to give up everything and follow Him.
