“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” – Hebrews 3:13
Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, “The physical presence of other Christians is a source of incomparable joy and strength to the believer.” This couldn’t be more true! We were designed for relationship. We were designed to meet together frequently as a family of Christ to strengthen, encourage, and worship together. This verse reminds us of several things about encouragement. First, we are to encourage each other daily. Today, send an encouraging text to a member of your small group. Secondly, we are reminded that encouragement keeps us from sin. This begs the question: Are you being held accountable by another brother or sister in Christ? At Hope, this principle of community is fleshed out through Group Time which is time spent consistently in community with a small group from my church. It’s within small group community that we truly and powerfully encourage one another week-in and week-out.
Are you in a small group of other believers doing life together?
