"I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You loved Me." - John 17:20-23

John 17:20-23
“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You loved Me.” – John 17:20-23

“Don’t forget who you are.” Did you ever hear those words as a teenager when you stepped out of the house to hang out with your friends? By saying that, your parent or guardian was trying to reinforce your identity as part of the family. Even as Jesus followers, we need to be reminded of who we are in Christour spiritual identity. We are children of God! All believers share this identity. Meaning that because we have a relationship with God, we also have been given a relationship with God’s family who all share this identity. John reminds us that being a part of this family affords us the opportunity in Christ to enjoy the same unity and oneness that is experienced between the Father and the Son.
