“He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.” – Deuteronomy 6:23-25
Whenever you come out of something, you enter into something else. If you are coming out of a time of trouble, you may enter into a time of peace or, in some unfortunate cases, right back into another storm. In this chapter, God certainly emphasized obedience. Moses told the people over and over again to “keep all His statutes and His commandments” (v. 2) and “to listen and be careful to [obey], that it may be well with you” (v. 3). This shows us that God was aware of how they would need Him in order to live well in the land He was giving them. God brought His people out of a slavery into a love relationship so that they could obey and prosper in the land. It is the love relationship that God brings us into when He brings us out of our sin. Only then will we have the ability to obey and live well in this land.
