“And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” – Ephesians 1:22-23
Have you ever thought about how shocking it is that the Bible calls the church the body of Christ? Seriously! After hearing it so many times, most of us have gotten used to it, but how can a collection of fickle, broken, rebellious human beings be the hands and feet of the Son of God? The key is in the verses above. We’re not the body of Jesus because we can be smart enough, work hard enough, or do enough good deeds. We are the body of Christ because we are connected to our Head (Jesus). As we abide in Him, both individually and corporately, we are filled with His life and able to move together to accomplish His purposes on earth.
