“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:25-26
Have you ever been on vacation with someone who could not stop taking pictures? Every random observance, every moment of joy just has to be captured for eternity (if he or she ever looks at it again!). But there is a hidden cost; you often lose the moment you are trying to capture. Jesus’ point about worry in these verses hits a similar note. He warns his followers that life is so much bigger than the things we spend our time worrying about. When we don’t trust God with our future it costs us the joy of walking with Jesus and being a part of His mission in the present.
