“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” – Joshua 22:5
A child will sometimes stretch out his arms to show his dad how much he loves him. He says, “I love you this much.” This passage speaks of a child of God that loves his Heavenly Dad with arms stretched out wide. The love relationship you have with God affects the decisions you make, how you act, who you serve. You live this out with all of your being. Your Father gives you instructions to help you experience the full life He has for you. These commands are not from an angry Father that is out to get you; they are from a loving Father who desires what’s best for you. As you love Him and out of the overflow of your love for him begin to obey what He says; you will find a better life and realize how much God really does love you.
Sometimes we need to stop and ask a very simple question: Do I obey God out of the overflow of my love for Him?
