Our
Congregations

We are one church with multiple congregations in the las Vegas valley.

At Hope Church we exist to connect people to live the life of a Jesus follower. Early in the life of our church, God used a passage of Scripture from Psalm 107 to shape the vision of this ministry.

He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water. And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in; they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield. By his blessing they multiply greatly…

Psalm 107:35-38

There are several significant promises within that passage but one of them has to do with planting and multiplication. God used this passage from Psalm 107 to ignite our passion to see the church multiplied in our city, the West, and the world. Over the last 20 years, we have been a part of planting almost 80 churches in the western United States, with 22 of those new churches being in the city of Las Vegas.

In recent years, we have begun to seek the Lord about a strategy, in addition to planting churches, that allows us to see the church multiplied. We believe that God has led us to begin to engage in a city-wide strategy to start new Hope Church congregations across the Las Vegas valley.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR MULTI-CONGREGATIONAL STRATEGY:

HOW DID HOPE CHURCH BEGIN?

In 2001, God called a group of families to join in His activity in Las Vegas by planting a new church.

What began as three founding pastors and their families being sent by the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Georgia, soon became 18 people in a living room. As that small group of people began to pray and engage the city, Jesus followers began to multiply, and Hope Church was born on September 30, 2001.

From the beginning, Hope Church understood the local church is not the finish line; it’s the starting line. Psalm 67:7 says, “God blesses us, that all the ends of the earth may fear him.”

And after two decades of ministry, Hope Church’s mission remains the same: Connecting people to live the life of a Jesus follower.

WHAT DOES “MULTI-CONGREGATIONAL” MEAN?

Hope Church is one church with multiple congregations. For us, the word “congregation” communicates we are all the same family. Each Hope Church congregation is a contextual expression of our ministry in different locations. They have the same name, mission, vision, and values, with local pastoral leadership and live, in-person preaching. Each of our congregations is joining in the mission together.

HOW DOES PREACHING WORK?

We prioritize live, Spirit-led preaching of the Bible with boldness, simplicity, and application. Our Teaching Team serves together weekly as they plan, study, and teach the Scriptures. 90% of the time, all congregations preach the same biblical text or topic. As the primary communicator, the Lead Pastor has the freedom to set the scheduled sermon aside and address a topic he deems important. In addition to the Lead Pastor, other communicators teach within the preaching rotation in each congregation.

Development, shared ownership, shared resources, and spiritual refreshment are a few ways we believe our team approach strengthens our teaching ministry.

HOW DOES THIS MINISTRY MODEL MAKE EVERYONE BETTER?

We believe there are many strengthens to this ministry model. One major benefit of being one church with multiple congregations is the opportunity for leadership development among Lead Pastors, Staff Members, Volunteers, and Preachers. Each group is sharper because of a relationship with others in the same role at other congregations. Also, in the future, as we continue to start new congregations, they will receive support and leadership from an established ministry without the pressure of reinventing the wheel.

WHAT IS COMMON, AND WHAT IS CONTEXTUAL WITH EACH CONGREGATION?

Regardless of which Hope Church congregation you are a part of, key areas such as doctrine, core values, mission, and disciple-making strategy are all the same. Additionally, we provide numerous shared services for our congregations so the ministry teams can remain laser-focused on reaching new people, shepherding, and making disciples. The shared services among our congregations include accounting, Human Resources, facility maintenance, and mobilization and sending.

With the key areas above in place, it creates a foundation for congregations to contextualize ministry based on size, Spirit-led planning, and kingdom opportunities.

IS HOPE CHURCH STILL INVOLVED IN PLANTING NEW AUTONOMOUS CHURCHES?

Absolutely! We are still passionate about starting new autonomous churches that we disciple, train, invest in, and send out with their own unique mission, vision, and values. We continue to trust God for a church planting movement in the West that penetrates lostness by at least 1%. Our prayer is for God to use us as a church to see up to one million people reached with the gospel through planting 300 new multiplying churches in strategic cities in our region. This God-sized dream will only become a reality as we obey biblical principles to multiply the church and trust the Spirit of God to give birth to movement.
