The Lord's Supper 2026
Mar 29, 2026Colossians 1:19-20
In this Lord’s Supper sermon, Pastor Trenton preached from Colossians 1:19–20, reminding us that when we need rescue, who our rescuer is changes everything.
Jesus is the only one who can truly save us, not only because of who He is, but because of what He has done, reconciling us to God through His death and resurrection. No amount of effort or religion can accomplish what He has already finished.
Check out this sermon to learn more about what makes Jesus the only one who can rescue us and how He did it.

The Lord’s Supper
“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross." Colossians 1:19-20
When you are in need of rescue…who your rescuer is makes all the difference in the world.
Do we have the right rescuer?
1. What is it about Jesus that makes Him the only one who can actually rescue us?
2. And how did He do it?
1. Who Jesus Is
“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.” Colossians 1:19a
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” Colossians 1:15
“The pre-existent Lord of the world has become the human Lord of the world, and in doing so has reflected fully, for the eyes of the world to see, the God whose human image he has now come to bear.” NT Wright
2. What Jesus Came to Do
“…and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven…” Colossians 1:20
• “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
• “Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God.” Isaiah 59:2
• “For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.” Romans 8:22
Don’t confuse religious activity or right theology for a relationship with Jesus.
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13
“…making peace by the blood of his cross.” Colossians 1:20
“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” Hebrews 9:22
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1
Live from peace, not for it
“The gospel is this: we are more sinful and flawed than we ever dared believe, yet at the same time more loved and accepted than we ever dared hope.” Tim Keller
