Luke 5:17-20

In this sermon, Pastor Scott introduced “OneLife,” a simple challenge for each of us to ask God, “Who is one person in my life that needs to come to know Jesus?”

Every follower of Jesus has been saved to be sent. The gospel is the good news of Jesus, and it is not meant to be kept to ourselves but shared with those who do not know Him. Think of someone in your life who needs to hear it. Maybe it is a relative, best friend, neighbor, or co worker. Who could be your “OneLife” to share the gospel with?

Watch this sermon to learn how you can begin sharing with your OneLife.

Luke 5:17-20 // March 15, 2026

“On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with him to heal. And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said, ‘Man, your sins are forgiven you.’” Luke 5:17-20

"I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18

Every follower of Jesus has been saved to be sent.

“‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.’” Acts 1:8

“And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said, ‘Man, your sins are forgiven you.’” Luke 5:18-20

Three Characteristics:
1. Their faith was compassionate
2. Their faith was persistent
3. Their faith was inadequate

“When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, ‘Why do you question in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, “Your sins are forgiven you,” or to say, “Rise and walk”? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins’—he said to the man who was paralyzed—'I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.’ And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God.” Luke 5:22-25

When it comes to sharing Jesus with our OneLife: It’s our job to share, it’s God’s job to save.

Question to Consider:
Are you willing to do whatever it takes to bring people to Jesus?

How to Share with Your OneLife:
1. Share your story

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved...” Ephesians 2:4-5

2. Share an invitation
3. Share that you’re praying
