Anchored: A Journey Through Isaiah 55
Jul 5, 2026
Isaiah 55:1-3

In our Anchored series, we’re journeying through Isaiah 55. In this sermon, Pastor Scott preaches from Isaiah 55:1-3, where God invites everyone who thirsts to come and be satisfied in Him.

Together, we explore why the things of this world can never truly fulfill our deepest needs, how true satisfaction can only be found in Jesus, and what it looks like to pursue lasting satisfaction through a relationship with Him.

Anchored: A Journey Through Isaiah 55
An Invitation to Be Satisfied // Isaiah 55:1-3

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live…” Isaiah 55:1-3

“If we are cut loose from the anchor of God's Word, we will not be free. We will be slaves of personal passions and popular trends.” John Piper

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

“‘Come, everyone who thirsts…’” Isaiah 55:1a

“‘Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.’” Isaiah 55:1

Three Insights of the Invitation:
1. Satisfaction is purchased but must be pursued

“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”’” John 7:37-38

“‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew 5:3

"Our hearts are restless, until they rest in You." Augustine

Salvation cost us nothing, but it costs Jesus everything.

Three Insights of the Invitation:
2. Substitutes will never satisfy

“‘Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy?’” Isaiah 55:2a

“Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 2:11 NIV

“‘For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?’” Mark 8:36

Where are you seeking satisfaction that you know you need to surrender?

Three Insights of the Invitation:
3. Spiritual practices pave the way

“‘Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live…’” Isaiah 55:2b-3a

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11
