In this Easter message Pastor Scott teaches from John 11:1-26. God allowed a death so that there could be a resurrection. That is what we explore in this sermon.
THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE
Easter 2023 – John 11:1-26
Resurrection begs a response
Resurrection (n.): the state of one risen from the dead.
“But when Jesus heard this, He said, 'This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.'" John 11:4
“Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.” John 11:5-6
“So Jesus then said to them plainly, 'Lazarus is dead, and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him.'" John 11:14-15
“Sovereign”: one that exercises supreme authority
“Martha then said to Jesus, 'Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died…’” John 11:21
'"…Your brother will rise again.' Martha said to Him, 'I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.'" John 11:23-24
“Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies...'" John 11:25
“I am the great Spring and Source of all life, and whatever life anyone has, eternal, spiritual, physical, is all owing to Me. All that are raised from the grave will be raised by Me. All that are spiritually quickened are quickened by Me. Separate from Me there is no life at all.” J.C. Ryle
