It's All About Jesus!

Acts
Mar 8, 2026
Acts 3:11-26

In this sermon, Pastor Scott preached from Acts 3:11-26.

After a man who had been lame from birth is miraculously healed, a crowd gathers in amazement and begins looking at Peter and John like they are the heroes. But Peter quickly redirects their attention and makes it clear that the miracle isn’t about them, but about Jesus.

This passage reminds us that EVERYTHING, not just this story or the book of Acts, or even the Bible, is ultimately about Jesus.

It’s All About Jesus!
Acts 3:11-26// March 8, 2026

“While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's. And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: ‘Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?’” Acts 3:11-12

It’s all about Jesus!

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-17

“Jesus Christ is the reason, the goal, the aim, the intent, the point, the purpose, the end, the terminus, the consummation, and the culmination of every molecule that moves.” Sam Storms

It’s all about Jesus…
…so we deflect glory (v.11-16)

“While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s. And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: ‘Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?’” Acts 3:11-12

“‘A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.’” John 3:27

“Nothing sets a person so much out of the devil's reach as humility.” Jonathan Edwards

“When you forget who you are and what you’ve been given, you start to take credit for what only grace could produce.” Paul David Tripp

What are you tempted to take credit for that only Grace could produce?

“‘The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.’” Acts 3:13-15

1. “His Servant”
2. “The Holy and Righteous One.”
3. “The Author of Life.”

“‘And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.’” Acts 3:16

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11

It’s all about Jesus…
…so we repent of our sin (v.17-21)

“‘And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.’” Acts 3:17-19

“No one ever came to God without a need.” Watchman Nee

“…as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12

“‘…that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.’” Acts 3:20-21

It’s all about Jesus…
…so we rejoice in God’s glorious plan (v.22-26)

Jesus is The Promised Serpent-Crusher
Jesus is the greater Ark
Jesus is the greater Sacrifice
Jesus is the greater Moses
Jesus is the greater Temple
Jesus is the greater Prophet
