In this message, Pastor Bryan Loritts continues our timely series “Radical Red Letters: Kingdom Living in a Chaotic Land” by teaching on what it looks like for Jesus followers to be merciful. What does that look like in midst of a chaotic land?
Radical Red letters
Blessed are the Merciful
“When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”- Matthew 5:1-7
Mercy simply means an attitude and action of kindness towards the undeserving
“Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you”- I Corinthians 6:9-11a.
“The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness’”- Exodus 34:6.
