IF MY PEOPLE...
PRAYING WITH THANKSGIVING
What would it take for you to become a more thankful person?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” - PHILIPPIANS 4: 6 – 7

1. WHY IS PRAYING WITH THANKSGIVING SO IMPORTANT?

A. Thanksgiving is a command given by God

“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“If in any situation you are not prepared to give thanks, you are out of the will of God.” –Major Ian Thomas

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” Psalm 100:4

B. Thanksgiving is consumed with the goodness of God

1. I CAN BE THANKFUL GOD IS MY FATHER

“Our Father who is in heaven...” Matthew 6:9

2. I CAN BE THANKFUL GOD USES ALL THINGS FOR GOOD

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10

3. I CAN BE THANKFUL GOD IS IN CONTROL

“God reigns over the nations, God sits on His Holy throne.” Psalm 47:8

4. I CAN BE THANKFUL GOD IS STILL WRITING MY STORY

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good worl in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

5. I CAN BE THANKFUL GOD DOES NOT CHANGE

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

2. WHAT IS THE PROMISE OF PRAYING WITH THANKSGIVING?

A. I experience the peace of God in my life

When I turn my cares into prayers with thanksgiving, God’s gift to me is indescribable peace.

B. I experience the presence of God through my life

“More can happen in five minutes of God’s manifest presence than in fifty years of our best human efforts.” –Bill Elliff
