The Life of a Jesus Follower
Week 1: It's All About Relationships!

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

Our lives are the product of (at least) 3 things…
1. What God has done
2. What other people have done
3. What we do (experiences and practices)

Our Mission:
We exist to connect people to live the life of a Jesus follower

“… I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10b

What does a faithful follower of Jesus look like?

“But I am afraid that…your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3

“The Christian life is nothing less than the life which He lived then…lived now by Him in you.” Major Ian Thomas

Foundational Truth:
The life of a Jesus follower is all about relationships!

1. Following Jesus is About a Relationship with God

“And this is eternal life…” John 17:3

“And this is eternal life…that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3

ABIDE

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

2. Following Jesus is About a Relationship With Other Followers of Jesus

“Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature... Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone…’” Genesis 2:7,18

“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls… And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Acts 2:41, 46-47

3. Following Jesus is About a Relationship With the World

“As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” John 17:18

“‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:19-20

“Every Christian is either a missionary or an impostor.” Charles Spurgeon

SHARE

“‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’” John 13:34-35
