THE GOSPEL OF MARK
Mark 8:1-10 // Something Out Of Nothing

Mark 8:1-10
“In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to him and said to them, “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.” And his disciples answered him, “How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?” And he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.” And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. And they had a few small fish. And having blessed them, he said that these also should be set before them. And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away. And immediately he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.”

JESUS CONSISTENTLY SHOWS COMPASSION.

True compassion does not just feel. It reaches out.

It’s human to want to avoid the trouble of giving help; it’s divine to be moved with such compassion that we are compelled to help.

JESUS FOLLOWERS FORGETFULLY QUESTION.

What area in your life are you not convinced that Jesus is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do?

JESUS FULLY PROVIDES.

The Lord can overshadow our poverty with His riches of grace.

Jesus is the one who provides, He is the spiritual and physical bread of life.

JESUS COMPLETELY SATISFIES HIS PEOPLE.

In Jesus there is enough bread, and more to spare, there is a fullness in Christ which He communicates to all who pass through His hands.

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” -John 10:10a

“For He satisfied the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.”
-Psalm 107:9

“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.”
-John 4:14

Jesus is the universal bread, there is no life for anyone apart from Him.

SERMON IN A SENTENCE:
We must be reminded that in His loving compassion, Jesus will always provide and satisfy.
