How can we avoid living inconsistent, mediocre Christian lives?
There is a way to daily experience the presence of God in your life, the power of God through your life, and the authority of God almighty put on display in your life!
Mark 3:13-19
And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach and have authority to cast out demons.He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter); James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder); Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Who does Jesus call?
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8

“Jesus selected twelve ordinary, average men. None came with impressive credentials. They were Galileans, many of them fishermen, most from the area surrounding Capernaum. They were literate and well-versed in the Old Testament Scriptures, thanks to the synagogue, but none of them could be called a scholar. Jesus desires to take ordinary people and, by his grace, do extraordinary things!
What does He call them to?
“And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him…” Mark 3:14a
What is the purpose of the Christian life?
The purpose of my life is not to do something for Jesus. The purpose of my life is to be with Jesus.
“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3
Two Aspects of the Christian Life:
The Ultimate Purpose —To Know God
The Daily Practice—To Spend Time with God
What does Jesus do?
“…and He might send them out to preach” v.14b
Everything Jesus desires to do through you, He will accomplish out of the overflow of His relationship with you.
“have authority to cast out demons” v.15
